Dear readers,

We are happy to send you this third EUROSCAPES newsletter. The project has now been running for one year and partners have intensified their exchange of knowledge and experiences in the field of sustainable management of urban and peri-urban landscapes. The project has been promoted during partners’ local info days, seminars and international events.
The third seminar, held in London on “Making green spaces work within dense urban areas” was very instructive with a large panel of experts focusing on the East London Green Grid and the Olympic Park management plans from a regional perspective to local landscapes’ good management projects’ examples. Delegates had the opportunity to visit the Olympic Park itself, an amazing construction site, a kind of “city within the city” ! But above all, a project in which the future of the park after the 2012 Olympic games is seriously taken into account. During the conference, the Green Infrastructure Valuation Toolkit, a tool which enables to estimate the economic value of green spaces, was presented by one of its designer, Anne Jaluzot from CABE Space. Deni Ruggeri, from the Landscape Architecture Department of the Univerity of Oregon gave us a fascinating insight into what he calls “Sustainable landscapes of the heart”, giving the audience a different approach on the way people value landscapes through identity and sacredness dimensions.
A workshop session on Blue spaces management enabled partners to present and exchange 4 case studies on the sustainable management of blue spaces and riversides’ areas in Spain, Greece, Germany and France.
To get an overview of the activities of the first year of our project, a Special issue newsletter has been published and is available online.
Do not hesitate to visit the documents section of the website to download reports, leaflets, case studies, etc.

Good reading!
